Are you thinking of where to spend the holidays as newlyweds?

This is always an issue with newlyweds because neither spouse wants to hurt the feelings of family members, so what do you do?

Here are some options: Make sure that you as the couple talk things through. Remember that you got married and you left your mother and your father to be one with your spouse. So now you are off to create your own family but that doesn’t mean you completely leave your parents and siblings.

Spend Thanksgiving with one family and Christmas with the other and the following year do the opposite.

Thanksgiving 2008: Husband’s Family

Thanksgiving 2009: Wife’s Family

Christmas 2008: Wife’s Family

Christmas 2009: Husband’s Family

Then spend New Years with each other somewhere romantic. This is how you manage not hurting each others feelings. Because remember, no family is better than the other, they both are different.

Be honest and up front with both families if not, there will be hurt feelings and arguments as a couple.
