Why Newlywed Fights Happen Too Soon?
Newlywed Fights Too Soon In The Game Of Life
You have heard it said before. Well the honeymoon is over. Why? You just had your first fight with your brand new husband or wife. After the wedding, your honeymoon with your mate was magical. But reality has a tendency to hit us squarely in the middle of our gut.
Life goes on. Your marriage now enters into weeks, months and finally years of a union. What makes the newlywed game of life fair. Compromise. That’s right. Each person in this union has to compromise. Why? Because basically you are still strangers. When you were engaged, you no doubt may not have lived under the same roof. Now you do and boy, is that a different story. Who is to clean up, to cook, to wash dishes, clothes and the like? Who is to take out the garbage, go grocery shopping, make the beds and just tend to basic daily routines? Why does it have to be one person doing some of the chores or even all of them? Compromise. Hopefully newlywed fights will be kept to a minimum.
It is always a good idea to talk candidly about finances. Who will handle the checkbook, the bank account or even paying the dreaded bills? Should there be a savings account< and who should put money into it needs to be decided? There should also be an insurance company already setup.
What about a night out with friends? Should you take your husband or wife along? Should friends drop over unannounced? When does privacy become a real issue?
Any of the above questions can actually create a scenario where fights as newlyweds are just waiting to happen. And why? Lack of compromising on the couple’s part. There is no hard fast rule in who should do what around the home. Communication is the key to a marriage that will hopefully have few disagreements. And if compromising it thrown into it, then newlywed fights can result in the right to disagree even with your life long best friend.
